Contemporary crafters and designer/makers from around Central Victoria are invited to take part in this popular market, held in the beautiful Daylesford Town Hall.
A number of stalls are also available to crafters from Melbourne and further afield.
Before submitting an application please see the floorplan and read the information for stallholders.
The Daylesford Makers Market aims to bring the high standard of craftsmanship found in the best urban design markets to the country. Set in picturesque Daylesford, an hour’s drive from Melbourne, it has a relaxed atmosphere with local musicians and entertainers, and attracts a large crowd. The Market is very highly-regarded by both visitors and stallholders, and has been featured in several magazines and newspapers. Our experienced marketing and publicity team promote each event to visitors across Victoria. The mix of products includes textiles, jewellery, ceramics, toys, clothing and body products, all made by independent businesses. There is an emphasis on sustainable design, and many makers use vintage and recycled materials in their work. Each monthly event features many fresh stalls alongside our most popular regular makers.
We are only able to accept applications online through this website. Please complete all sections of the application form and click ‘submit’. You will then have a chance to review your application before clicking ‘confirm’. You’ll need to separately email us three photos of your products. The Market organizing team meets once a month to assess applications – usually the third week of the month. We will contact you after our meeting to let you know if you have been successful and which dates you have been approved for. You will receive an invoice for your booking(s), which must be paid within 7 days to secure your booking(s).
If you have had a stall at one of our previous markets you will still need to fill in the application form, but there is no need to send photos unless your product range has significantly changed.
You can apply for the Market if you are a maker and/or designer of high-quality, unique products. Retailers selling the work of other independent designers are also eligible. Applicants do not need to be based close to Daylesford, although local makers may be given priority.
You will need to pay for your bookings by bank deposit (see details on your invoice). Please note that your bookings are not secured until you have paid for them. We have a high demand for places and your stall will be given to the waiting list if you do not pay within 7 days.
If you cancel your stall at least 7 days before the market date, we will try to find another maker to take your place, and your stall fee will be held for you to use at a future market. Refunds will not be given. If you cancel with less that 7 days’ notice you will forfeit your stall fee.
The Makers Market is run by a group of volunteer committee members who meet once a month to assess new applicants and plan the positioning of stalls. Our first consideration is whether a product range meets the high standards of design and craftsmanship that the Market is known for. It is also important that applicants are able to present and market their work to a high standard, and that prices are consistent with other makers. Once a maker has been accepted, they will be offered stalls for selected markets based on availability. The Daylesford Makers Market is in high demand, and makers may be placed on a waiting list for some markets. It is our policy to have a good mix of product types and a good balance between new and established makers at every event.
No. We do not allow two makers to share a stall, and it is not permissible to bring along products by another maker unless agreed in writing. We have recently created Mini sites to allow small producers a low-cost option for participating in the market. If you wish to be situated next to someone else to help each other out during breaks etc. please let us know and we will try to accommodate you.
At this stage we do not offer permanent market stalls, but we are considering this for 2011. Please let us know if you are looking to have a permanent spot next year.
Please see the floorplan for approximate sizes of sites.
Chairs are available, no need to bring one. If you would like to bring your own table you are welcome to do so (Mini sites excepted). If you would like to hire a table from us, please specify on your application form. Any tables, racks or fittings that you bring must fit within your allocated site area and must not present a hazard.
No. In fairness to all stallholders, and to keep the market fresh for visitors, we don’t allow stallholders to request a particular site. Please choose the category of stall most appropriate for your products using the floorplan and we will contact you before each market once your site has been allocated. It is not possible to change the location of stalls once allocated. If you have particular needs, eg a power point, please let us know on the application form and we will try our best to accommodate your requirements.
Yes. Public liability insurance is a requirement for every stallholder. Please request this when you book. If you have your own insurance cover please bring a copy along on the day.
A week before each market you will be sent an email with full details of set-up and breakdown times, parking, and other information needed for the day.
Each stall must be attended by at least one person at all times. Stallholders are responsible for the security of their own goods, and for cleaning their site area before they leave.
The Market organizing committee welcomes new volunteers with time or skills to offer. Please email us or find us at the Info desk on the day.
